Interesting, as always!...[Heroic Presence] indeed.

Interesting, as always! The philosophies of their shamans and how they'd compare to the rest was certainly an interesting thing to explore, especially since the shamans were new at the time, not just to the alliance but the Draenei themselves, too. nice Details here and there, and even though you're stuck with lawful good for them, you got alot of considerations/ value out of the 'harmony vs discipline' axis, both in terms of variation and making your depiction generally closer to the latter end than the rest of Azeroth's more clean-cut good guys... Their faith in the Light and extremely communal culture let them continue to operate in even the worst circumstances. One might also interpret this as a form of callousness, at least towards the individual. However, they still recognize the need to rebuild, which is why they play a relatively small part in Alliance affairs.

Balaa is an original character, and serves to show that not all draenei are able to overcome trauma so easily. Much of her suffering stems from the fact that she spent so much time in isolation.

She seems to be one of the more popular side characters, so I may reintroduce her at some point.Destronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08880259350300667791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8564585184157117409.post-73105828456423954042010-12-22T12:32:02.276-08:002010-12-22T12:32:02.276-08:00While some people complained about how unprecedent...While some people complained about how unprecedented the Draenei were when B.C. came out, I really liked their concept and aesthetic. Still, one thing really bothered me about them; Exactly how close are they to extinction?

For those not familiar with the lore, I'll elaborate:

Only a handful of Draenei escaped the original corruption. (As large as Oshu'gun is, it's still much too small for an entire species.) Then when the Horde rose up, the number of Draenei deaths were nigh-obscene if the "Road of Glory" is any indication. A huge chunk of those survivors were warped into broken, the bare scraps of the "pure" civilization were harrowed in tempest keep by a mere portion of Kael'thas's army, and all the survivors of that fracas were further decimated by the crash-landing.

The Draenei have undergone a total of three extinction events within the last generation, and there is little to no indication in WoW that they are recovering from that. I know that this is probably "Game-play And Story Segregation", but I'm interested to hear your take on how the Draenei are coping with their status as an endangered species.

P.S. Last question, I swear.
I haven't found Balaa in any other WoW media, so I'm guessing she's an original character. Since she is your creation, do your intend to flush out her story, or give any indication as to what happens to her?AntiDragonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01345752329997235436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8564585184157117409.post-11698973283937904052008-10-04T06:00:00.000-07:002008-10-04T06:00:00.000-07:00This post and the last one really makes you think ...This post and the last one really makes you think twice about a lot of things. The information provided by Destron gives great insight in some things of witch I have never really thought of and I cannot wait until Quel'thalas is up.
It is therefore that I must apoligize that the first time I post a comment it is to correct an error.
When describing the elekk you stated that they have "two floppy ears, a pair of tusks, and a prehensile nose that resembles a tail".
The thing is that they don't have ears. They do have the nose and the tusk but only the baby elekks acctually has ears. The full grown mount type has two backward pointing horns (for what use I have no idea). It is an easy made misstake witch I myself once did.
-That elekks don't have ears.
And I have absolutly no idea how they hear things.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8564585184157117409.post-10209212640281267312008-03-04T12:03:00.000-08:002008-03-04T12:03:00.000-08:00This series is by far the most fascinating literat...This series is by far the most fascinating literature about Warcraft I have ever read.
