((Computer Problems))

((My HD appears to be completely dead, utterly beyond hope of resurrection. Unfortunately, I lost all of what I've written for Sholazar Basin Part 2. I'm going to go and buy a new computer, but it will be a while before I'm able to update. It hopefully won't take too long to rewrite the second half of Sholazar, since I already know what I want to do with it.))

  1. Aw, damn. I know how that goes; I once lost a 500-gig external HD to a kitten.

  2. That stinks. Hope you didn't lose too much.

Oh, and I love this travelogue.

  3. Hm. If you've just lost your MBR or a few sectors, you *might* be able to get someone at a computer shop to yank the remaining data out.
If it's had a head crash or something like that, then yeah, you won't be able to retrieve the data from it.

It's always a good idea to keep backups off of your main drive, just in case.

  4. Having your work deleted.

The most crushing experience for any writer.

  5. It's certainly disappointing, though I didn't lose enough to consider it crushing. Everything else is backed up (though I will have to take new screenshots of Sholazar, for the third time!).

Right now I'm dealing with a cold, as well as the finals for my summer economics class. I'm pretty well-prepared for the latter, I think, so I'm not stressing about it too much. But with that and the cold, it's a little hard for me to focus on writing much, so I'm just going to take it easy for a few days.
